• Social Media sites (also known as Web 2.0 sites)  are growing much faster than any other type of site. Any investment in social media will be multiplied in the future as the number of users increase.
• Social Media sites by their nature are ‘interactive’ and thus perfect for 2 way communication with potential customers. If marketing is essentially about discovering what our customers really want then social media is the place to achieve this.
• Sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn are really no different to offline networking events with the important exception that instead of meeting 10 or 20 people you can engage with hundreds or even thousands at a time.
• New sites are springing up all the time, each one offering a new angle on Web 2.0, and there are thousands of developers building free applications enabling better use.
• 99% of Web 2.0 sites are free to use and only really cost time !
